Technology stocks led the sell-off after disappointing reports from Intel and Amazon. CNBC reported that concern about AI spending and returns weighed on the sector, while Intel's outlook also reflected weakness in the PC market.
Intel's forecast falls short
Intel forecast fourth-quarter revenue of $15 billion to $16 billion and adjusted earnings of 25 cents a share. Analysts surveyed by LSEG expected $17.1 billion and 43 cents, according to CNBC. The company said it expects the PC slowdown to continue through at least the first half of next year.
