The Nasdaq Composite jumped 289.16 points (+1.11%) to 26,430.89 to start Mag 7 earnings week (WSJ preliminary closes) as AMZN ripped 4.97% to $262.44 after Morgan Stanley named it a Top Pick (Investopedia) — while CRWV popped 7% in the morning, then faded to close red.
Recap
The rebound arrived Monday, but it arrived narrow, and it arrived with a warning attached. The Nasdaq Composite jumped 289.16 points (+1.11%) to 26,430.89 and the S&P 500 gained 31.22 points (+0.41%) to 7,690.73, while the Dow slipped 34.16 points (-0.07%) to 51,966.03 (WSJ preliminary closes). The index ETFs told the same story (Robinhood official closes): QQQ $718.32 (+1.20%), SPY $766.54 (+0.48%) and DIA $518.99 (-0.04%). Amazon led the Magnificent Seven after Morgan Stanley called the stock a Top Pick and raised its price target (Investopedia): AMZN closed at $262.44 (+4.97%) (Robinhood). The rest of the Mag 7 mostly followed (Robinhood official closes): TSLA $368.09 (+3.77%), NVDA $217.09 (+1.38%), GOOGL $344.20 (+1.06%), MSFT $533.61 (+0.86%), with AAPL $342.97 (-0.14%) and META $704.95 (-0.62%) the only laggards — Meta and Tesla both report earnings Wednesday. Chips were the day's engine: the iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX) rose almost 2% after Friday's 4% drop (Investopedia), INTC closed at $91.97 (+2.36%) helped by a JPMorgan upgrade (Investopedia), and AVGO closed at $334.64 (+1.79%) (Robinhood). The warning came from CoreWeave: CRWV rose as much as 7% in morning trade but finished at $61.12 (-0.45%) (Robinhood) — the AI-debt concern that drove last week's rout, when CRWV plunged 25% (Investopedia), has not cleared. Rates stayed a headwind: the 10-year Treasury yield rose to 5.135%, its largest gain since Oct. 2 (WSJ), and November oil futures settled at $103.66 a barrel (+2.2%) (WSJ).

Watch tomorrow: the data blackout leaves earnings and Fed speakers as the only catalysts. GM reports before Tuesday's open and Netflix after the close (CNBC); SPCX also reports after Tuesday's close (Robinhood earnings calendar). Meta and Tesla both report after Wednesday's close, the first Mag 7 prints of the season (CNBC). Nvidia's next earnings are not until November.
